Daniel “D.C.” Morrister isn’t the author’s actual name. At our last meeting, he “borrowed” a sketchbook of mine. Years later, somebody else returned it. In between the pages, I discovered a computer disc with a number of files on it. Along with an older work was a newer novel incorporating twenty-four of my figure drawings. In addition, there was a note declaring that Daniel had washed his hands of the whole endeavor. Leave him alone now, the letter said.
